This week in Dong Nai, we are mentoring kindergarten teachers who work with children with hearing loss 3-6 years of age in the classroom setting. Most of the teachers here are from the Rose School, our host program but there are others from around southern Vietnam who joined, eager to learn from our curriculum.

The training has been split between lectures and live classroom sessions with the children to afford opportunities for the teachers to practice what they are learning. A lot of time has been spent this week on assessment and setting goals for the children. The window of time in a child’s life for listening and spoken language development is short and so we are teaching the teachers and therapists in Vietnam how to help the children progress to their potential as quickly as possible with their hearing aids and cochlear implants.
